I Think We’re All Carrying More Than We Let On

A real, honest reflection on modern life feeling heavy - and how small comforts like candles, scent and simple rituals can help lighten the load.

There’s been something on my mind lately.

Not one big thing.
Just… a lot of little things.

And I don’t know if it’s an age thing, or if life has always been like this and I’m only just noticing it more now - but sometimes it all feels a bit heavy.

Not in a dramatic way.
Just in that quiet, constant way.

The kind where you’re getting on with your day, doing everything you need to do… but underneath it, you feel a bit drained.

And the thought of what to cook for tea can feel like too much – even though it’s such a simple, everyday thing.

The funny thing is, when you stop and think about it, most of what we carry probably does seem small.

Day-to-day things.
Work. Family. Responsibilities.
Running a home. Running a business. Trying to switch off and not quite managing to.

Even when it’s something you love - especially when it’s something you love - it can still feel like a lot sometimes.

And I think that’s the part we don’t always say out loud.

Because from the outside, things can look joyful, successful, full of good moments.
And they are.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not also tiring.

Lately, I’ve noticed it more in the conversations we have every day.

The customers who come in.
The little chats when I am out and about.
The reasons people are buying gifts

Of course, there are celebrations - there always will be.
But there’s also a lot of “just because.”

Just because someone needs a lift.
Just because someone’s having a hard week.
Just because they want their home to feel a bit nicer, a bit calmer, a bit lighter.

And I think that says everything.

Because maybe we are all carrying more than we let on.

Even the people who seem fine.
Even the ones who say they’re fine.

We’ve all had days where something small tips us over the edge.
Where everything feels like a bit too much.
Where we just want things to feel… easier.

And in those moments, it’s not the big gestures that help.

It’s the small ones.

Lighting a candle at the end of the day.
Walking into a room that smells exactly how you want it to.
Taking five minutes for yourself without feeling guilty.

Before I go out, I’ve been flipping the reeds on the diffusers around the house - and coming home to that scent is honestly the nicest feeling. Not for anyone else, just for me coming back home.

These things sound simple - but they matter more than we give them credit for.

There’s something about scent and light that shifts a space instantly.

A familiar fragrance can calm your mind without you even realising it.
A soft glow can make everything feel slower, quieter, more manageable.

It’s not about fixing everything.
It’s just about softening the edges a little.

That’s always been the heart behind what we do.

Not just creating something that looks nice - but something that feels good to live with.

Our candles, our diffusers, even the smallest pieces… they’re there for those everyday moments.

The ones no one else sees.

And that’s exactly why we created our Kindness Candles

Not for big occasions.
Not for grand gestures.

Just for those quiet moments where you want someone to know you’re thinking of them.

Because sometimes, that’s all someone needs.

A small reminder that they’re not on their own with whatever they’re carrying.

I think we’ve been taught to save things.

Save the good candle.
Save the nice skincare.
Save the “treat” for a better day.

But what if this is the day?

What if the small things we reach for are actually the things that help us get through?

Lately, I’ve been trying to lean into that more.

Using the good products.
Taking the time.
Making small parts of the day feel nicer, just because I can.

Not because everything’s perfect.
But because sometimes it isn’t.

And that’s exactly when it matters most.

You never really know what someone else is carrying.

But you can always be the person who makes things feel a little lighter.

Even if it’s just in a small, simple way.

And sometimes… those are the things that stay with us the longest.
